The 6th Generation Ipod Media Player is known as the iPod Classic and in September 2008 it had bit of a revamp, introducing some new exciting features.
The iPod is now only available in one version, that being the 120GB Ipod Classic. It is available in two finishes: black or silver.

Solid replacement
Bought the Ipod Classic 120g to replace my ipod that I bought back in 2005. This ipod rocks. The battery life is much better and the sound has improved. The great thing about it is the new colour. I purchased the new Ipod Classic from Amazon in black and it looks really sharp. Overall a great investment that should cover my music requirements for years to come.
The best Ipod for the money
Great portable player. The 120gb Classic is perfect for my needs. My music collection is growing by the week as I convert all my old vinyl to digital and this baby has more than enough storage. They say it can hold up to 30,000 tracks and I am about a tenth of the way there. I think I will still be converting for the next 5 years and this Ipod Classic will still have plenty of room for some music videos. Will be trying soon to convert some music dvd's and hope that the Ipod 120gb will perform as well in the video department as it does in the audio.
Ipod Classic 120GB 6th Generation
Picked this up at a price cheaper than the 80GB Ipod from Amazon, which I think is a steal. I just love this player. The Genius function is just genius. I didn't know I had so many music tracks, they run into the thousands and the genius function on the Ipod Classic 120gb makes a nice a change when compiling new playlists.
The sound quality reported by some reviewers has been a suspect, but to be honest I can't fault it. Even when rigged up to my Denon amp via docking station and a decent set of speakers the ipod classic performs well even at quite high levels. I think you would have to be music purist to find fault with the audio quality of the ipod 120.
Overall a bargain.
Ipod or Walkman
Went looking for my first mp3 player and have been overwhelmed by the choice that is available to the British consumer. I the end after a few weeks of checking reviews online it was a toss up between the Sony Walkman, the Ipod Touch and the Ipod Classic.
Tried them all out in a store in the West End and went home to deliberate. In my conclusions I found that though the Sony may have had the edge over the Ipods for audio quality this was only noticeable when listening to high quality mp3 tracks. The Ipod Touch certainly is a lovely looking piece of kit, in fact it looks more like the iPhone than an Ipod. But the capacity just sucks for the price. I may as well go out and buy a Nano Cromatic for half the price.
That left the Sony Walkman versus the Ipod Classic. I wasn't to bothered with having videos so the important factor was which player would be most future proof when it came to storing my music collection.
So in the end it seemed that the Ipod Classic 120GB ticked most of the boxes. The price was just about what I was prepared to spend on a mp3 player and had enough storage to meet my needs.
Off to the checkout I went with credit card at the ready to purchase the Ipod 120gb and was presented with my final dilemma. What colour should I chose. I must admit this was probably the easiest decision of the lot.
To be on the safe side I finished up buying one myself and one for the other half. Job Done.

The ipod classic player is light and sturdy and the head phones even more lightweight- firstly ditch the enclosed headphones and invest in a decent set of phones.
The genius tool is good but i takes a while to get used to it, but the ipod itself is well made i think sounds louder than my old nano. The only downsides i have found and the reason that i've not given it a 5 star rating is that i managed to scratch the screen easily buy just putting it in my pocket with some change, though i could have avoided this with a case which i do highly recommend.
The sound of my MP3s is impressive and full, with good volume.
Some reviewers have said that the volume is an issue.. No the Ipod Classic is loud you can set the maximum volume in the setting but this isn't the actual playing volume just the upper limit!! - whenever the Ipod is turned on it will start to broadcast at half volume by default, this is fine as a quick spin on your finger on the control wheel will put the volume to a level that is load enough to share the tunes with the person trying to sit next to you in silence. It will then stay there as you continue to play with the player.
As for the colour comments, gun metal black is the new true black and that is what this one is very macho. The mat black also is very smudge resistant.
The Ipod Classic 120gb was bought as a replacement for the old video nano, as i found i needed more space so this ipod seemed perfect for that and it is. I can now fit all my music, videos and photos without constantly having to delete stuff off of it to fit it all in like i had to do with my old nano. Also you have to up-date itunes which seems like a sneaky way of apple getting us all to download it. But these to be honest are personal preferences, so don't be put off it is a very good piece of kit.
